To set up a video stream from a studio, production facility, or a laptop with OBS (or another) video streaming software you will want to use an RTMP feed. Please follow the steps below to create an RTMP feed and connect it to your event.
Step One:
The RTMP feed can be accessed within the Items tab. Scroll down to the Video Stream Actions and select Request RTMP Feed. Select the blue hyperlinked settings text under the RTMP feed to receive the endpoint and key as well as suggested settings. We've included screenshots below:
Step 2:
View the settings under your newly created RTMP feed. These settings will show you your RTMP endpoint and key which are unique for each feed. The RTMP endpoint is address for the server which connects your streaming hardware, software, or website to our video servers. The key connects the specific video stream with your unique virtual event. Please note, both the server and the key have copy buttons next to them for convenience.
Notice in the settings board you will also find the optimal OBS settings. These apply to any web streaming software as well, but are laid out in the same order as the OBS software.
Step 3:
In OBS, or other streaming software, go to the stream settings and enter your custom server address as copied from your events settings board. Then also paste in your stream key.
Step 4:
For the most optimal connection to the server with the best video settings for your live event, use the settings as recommended. In OBS you will use the output tab of the settings board. Select the advanced output mode and enter all of the settings as shown.
Now when you click start stream, OBS will connect to your live event's server. Return to the items tab and go live with your RTMP feed to broadcast the stream across your live event.
