This article walks through the steps to make a pledge to a peer. There are two types of pledges that can be made.
The first pledge is a fixed donation, where the amount entered is paid for at the time of donating. This is utilized for events that do not require "calculation" post event. (For example: You are pledging to someone running a 5k, so your pledge amount is decided by you and paid for at the time of pledging.) For this pledge type, you will see a blue "Donate" button when landing on a peer page.
The second pledge type is one where you pledge per unit. Units can be the amount of yards shot at a golf tournament or the number of books read at an elementary school competition. This method requires you to a pledge a dollar amount for every unit the peer completes. (For example: You are pledging $1 to a student at a local elementary for every book read. After the fundraising event ends, the event organizer would enter in the 5 books that the student read. Once complete, you would receive a link to complete payment for their $5 pledge [$1 x 5 books = $5].) For this pledge type, you will see a blue "Pledge" button when landing on a peer page.

*Please Note: If you land on a peer page and see a blue "Donate" button, click here.
*Please Note: The total pledge amount will be calculated after the event once the units have been entered. For this example, pledges are made per book that the peer reads. Therefore, if I enter $10 and Madi reads five books, my total pledge amount at the end of the event would be $50.

When you pledge to an "Unfixed" event, this simply means that your total pledge amount is not calculated until the peer's total unit's (in this case, books) have been entered. For example, you make a $2 pledge to this "Unfixed" read-a-thon event to the student "Susie." Susie then reads 8 books, which is entered into the platform when the read-a-thon is over. You would then receive a link to pay for your pledge at the end of the event. The total amount of your donation would be $16 ($2 pledge x 8 books read = $16 total pledge).
