Hey Paddle Perfecto! Check out these best paddle practices!
See the "Best Practices" article at the beginning of each master badge for essential tips and tricks curated by event experts at Event.Gives.
The paddle raise is one of the most important parts of your fundraiser. In the first lesson in this module, you will learn our Paddle Perfecto best practices we have learned over the years.
Our best practice is always to suggest assigning paddles at the door, as guests arrive. Not only does this cut down on time spent at check-in but it prevents guests from losing their paddles or grabbing another guest's paddles. However, depending on the flow and style of your event, pre-assigning paddles might be a better option for your attendees.
Note: Paddle numbers can only be assigned to ticket holders users and are unable to be assigned to placeholders.
When to Assign Paddles at the Door and When to Pre-Assign Paddles
Assigning Paddles at the Door:
- For events with a high degree of uncertainty regarding attendance numbers or last-minute registrations.
- When creating an atmosphere of excitement and engagement from the moment attendees arrive is a priority.
- In situations where streamlining the check-in process is crucial, especially for large-scale events.
Pre-Assigning Paddles:
- For events with a solid attendee list with little to no unassigned tickets well in advance of the event date.
- In cases where personalization and tailored experiences for attendees are a priority.
*If you are pre-assigning paddles, make sure to tell attendees what their paddles numbers are at check-in to minimize the chances of attendees using the incorrect paddles. You’ll need to train your check-in staff and volunteers on how to locate paddle numbers.
