What is the Difference Between a Pledge and a Donation?

Donation: A donation describes the immediate exchange of money or goods from a donor. For example, if Bill went to a local gala, raised his paddle for $100, and then paid promptly after, this is referred to as a donation. 

Pledge: A pledge is a promised amount of money to an organization over a period of time. For example, if Sally wants to donate $25,000 at a gala for an upcoming project but is paying at a later date, this is referred to as a pledge. Sally is "pledging" to pay the $25,000 dollars to the organization.

Penny-Per-Yard 

The Penny-Per-Yard model allows you to pledge a penny per yard to your friend or family member who is attending a Golf.Gives event. This means, for every yard is a penny pledged to the organization. On average, attendees swing between 2,000-4,000 yards which translates to a $20-$40 donation. At the end of the event, when the yards are calculated, you will receive a link to pay for your pledge! Within this link, you will have the opportunity to double or triple your pledge.
